Antitrust developments in South-east Asia: January to March 2021

The first quarter of 2021 saw an issuance of new decisions, regulations and studies with respect to competition law in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Notably, the Malaysian and Philippine competition authorities have increased enforcement activity relating to abuses of dominant positions. Indonesia’s competition authority has published the results of its 2020 study on competition law and the digital economy, and the Philippines’ competition authority has also raised its fines for competition law violations.
