Charmelia advises on project development and specialises in the construction and engineering aspects of projects. She has a keen appreciation of the legal intricacies and practical realities of project delivery across diverse industry sectors and jurisdictions.

Her practice is centred on advising on procurement strategy, negotiating and drafting project documentation, and advising on effective risk management throughout the project life cycle, and extends to dispute resolution.

Her portfolio encompasses complex projects across a range of energy and infrastructure sectors including transport, oil and gas, renewable energy, hydrogen and carbon capture, usage and storage, water and waste plants, nuclear, digital infrastructure, pharmaceutical, logistics, hospitality, commercial and residential.

She is regularly entrusted by various stakeholders including government bodies, government-linked entities, project sponsors, fund and asset managers, contractors and consultants, to advise on their projects.

She is experienced in advising on bespoke project documentation to suit the unique needs of the projects, including concession agreements, public-private partnerships, build-to-suit agreements and target price contracts, apart from advising on internationally recognized standard forms. She seeks to complement her understanding of local laws and practices with a global perspective through her experience working on projects across diverse jurisdictions.

Charmelia became a Partner in 2019 and has been identified as “Next Generation Partner” in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific in subsequent years. She was part of the inaugural batch of practitioners to be recognised as Accredited Specialists in Building and Construction Law by the Singapore Academy of Law and is an Accredited Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre. She was seconded to Keating Chambers in 2018/2019 and worked as a Consultant for Slaughter and May in 2023/2024.
