Myanmar Department of Trade requires on-site inspections for online sales business registration certificates

On 27 November 2024, the Myanmar Department of Trade announced the introduction of a mandatory on-site inspection requirement for applications related to online sales business registration certificates. This new measure will apply to new applications filed from 21 December 2024 and renewal applications filed from 1 January 2025. 

Online sales were declared by the Union Government to be an “essential service” in July 2023, with the requirement to have a registration certificate to operate such a service introduced at that time. Following this most recent announcement, these certificates will only be approved once the on-site inspection is successfully completed.
